HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT


20 July 2006 – The UPD library staff convened today to elect their respective representatives to constitute the Library Personnel Committee (LPC), the body responsible for communicating personnel matters to the Library administration.

This motion is pursuant to Executive Order No. 9 dated 30 August 1970, wherein the University Library shall conduct an election of the new set of LPC members every two years. This year, the election was held at the UPD Main Library Conference Room.

Ms. Salvacion M. Arlante, University Librarian, was invited to present a paper on “Preserving National Heritage for the Future: Access, Preservation and Restoration of materials in the University of the Philipines” at the International Conference on Libraries sponsored by the University Sains Malaysia and the Librarians Association of Malaysia held in Penang, 14-19 March 2005. She also presented a paper on “Library Networking in the Philippines” in the International Meeting on Local Information Management Network in Southeast Asia in Maha Sarakham University, Thailand, August 1-5, 2005 and attended the 2nd AUNILO Meeting in Penang, Malaysia where she presented a report on “UP’s Quality Assurance of Library Services”.

Ms. Eimme Rhea C. Lagrama, Special Collections librarian, attended the Training Course in Conservation and Restoration of Special Collection at Archivo Historico Nacional, Madrid, Spain, from Oct. 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005.
Ms. Marian S. Ramos, College Librarian II, was chosen to attend the international scholarship training program entitled Scientific and Technological Information Management in Universities and Libraries – An Active Training Environment (STIMULATE) 5 of VLIR/Flemish in Brussels, Belgium from June 01, 2005 to August 29, 2005.

Ms. Rhodora S. Tolentino, Library Clerk, was chosen to attend a fully-funded short-term training entitled Malaysia Training Cooperation Program in National University Library of Malaysia from 8-27 August 2005. –SMArlante
