The College of Architecture Library received volumes of useful reference materials, mostly on landscape architecture, from the family of the late Archt. FELIX “Cliff” HILADO PERONILLA, JR. The donation was turned over to the College Library by Ms. Cecille Peronilla, sister of Archt. Cliff.

As soon as the materials are properly recorded and processed, these will be displayed for three months in a separate shelf and will be available to library users for Room Use Only, after which shall be integrated to the entire collection. The Philippine Association of the Landscape Architects (PALA) and Archt. Susan Aquino-Ong, BLArch Class 1986 alumnae, had been instrumental in asking Archt. Peronilla’s family for his collection to be donated to the College Library.

Archt. Peronilla was an alumnus of the UPDCA Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Class 1976. Teaching was Archt. Peronilla’s greatest contribution to his profession, as he had diverse teaching experiences and taught Landscape Architecture at the University of the Philippines (1976-1978 and 1981-1987), State University of New York (1980-1982), and at King Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia (1989-2005). He had been actively involved in Professional Landscape Associations. He was the charter co-founder and past president of the PALA. He was also an official PALA delegate for the Philippines at the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA). He was awarded by the Professional Regulations Commission as the Most Outstanding Professional of the Year (1998) in Landscape Architecture.

Archt. Peronilla had also maintained a continuing interest in landscape environmental planning of urban and countryside settings, with an emphasis on natural resource conservation. He had been a strong advocate for the protection and conservation of the environment and became more aware of this through fellow landscape architect Salvador R. Bautista. He also renewed partnership ties with I.P. Santos and Associates.

Archt. Cliff H. Peronilla, Jr. was born on 23 August 1950 and died on 3 July 2005 at the age of 54. –MASornoza
