The Association of Booksellers for the Academe and the Professions (ABAP) held its 11th Philippine Academic Book Fair last July 25-29, 2007 at the Megatrade Hall, 5/F SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. This year’s theme was Providing Best Books at Best Prices for Quality Education.

The five-day fair was participated in by 30 academic booksellers and publishers, as exhibitors: A-Z Direct Marketing, Academic Book Sales, Alexan Commercial, Ateneo de Manila University Press, C&E Publishing, CD Books International, Creative Minds Book Center, EDCA Publishing and Distribution, Emerald Headway Distributors, F&J De Jesus, Fastbooks Educational Supply, Geriatrica International, Golden Books Services, Goodwill bookstore, Guerrero Publishing, High Access Line Philippines, IBC Infotech, IBON Foundation, John Wiley and Sons (Asia), Megatext Philippines, New Day Publishers, Pearson Education South Asia, Philand Industries, Rarebook Enterprises, Readers Knowledge Bookstore, Summit Media, Thomson Asia, University of the Philippines Press, UST Publishing House, and Wiseman’s Books Trading.

This occasion proved to be an excellent venue for students, librarians, faculty members, professionals and book enthusiasts to acquire the latest, relevant, quality books and other materials on almost all disciplines, offered at fair price — publisher’s list price converted to current Peso-Dollar rate — at no additional costs.

Two U.P. presidents, Senator EDGARDO J. ANGARA and Hon. EMERLINDA R. ROMAN, were the guests of honors at the fair’s inauguration. Pres. Roman delivered a talk regarding book publishing problems and trends in the Philippines, while Sen. Angara commended the ABAP for this event. –ACLim
