Notable Filipiniana Donations, August 2011

The University Library UP Diliman recently received notable Filipiniana donations from Lieutenant General Jaime S. De los Santos, who is a former 42nd Commanding General, Philippines Army, Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was the first Filipino and ASEAN national to lead a 24-Nation Peacekeeping Force in East Timor. The position carries the rank of Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations. His outstanding performance in the peacekeeping endeavor brought honor and prestige to the Philippines. His previous positions include: Superintendent, Philippine Military Academy and The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP. He has been recognized by the University of the Philippines as one of its outstanding alumni with the “Distinguished Alumnus Award for Outstanding Public Service”. Likewise, the UP Vanguard Inc. bestowed on him the “Oblation Award” in recognition of his outstanding military service during the 80th Alumni Homecoming on March 9, 2002.
