There will be a 2-day training/workshop on “Implementing RDA Rules and University of the Philippines RDA Core Elements and Policy Statements (UPRCEPS) for Monograph Materials” from 14 to 15 August 2014 (Thursday – Friday) at the Conference Room, Main Library. This is open only for the catalogers/librarian representatives of the Main Library sections and College/Unit Library.
This event marks the fourth series of the library’s RDA Initiative and Implementation Program. The workshop will explain how to build description of monograph resources using RDA (Resource Description and Access) and RDA Core Elements and Policy Statements (UPRCEPS), highlighting the major changes and transition to RDA. It also aims to improve the skills and knowledge on RDA and to enhance the cataloging process at the University of the Philippines Diliman University Library.
We are honored to have Mrs. Elvirita E. Estampador as one of our speaker for the AM session on August 14, 2014. She will be discussing with us how L.C. implemented RDA, their challenges and best practices in cataloging Filipiniana materials as well as answer our frequently asked questions regarding RDA. Mrs. Elvirita Estampador Gildea (BLS, 1962), a retired cataloger/librarian from the Library of Congress and currently serving under the Gratuitous Service Policy and Standards Division Acquisitions & Bibliographic Access Directorate Library Services, Library of Congress. She is also the speaker for the UPSLIS’ Seminar on Resource Description and Access on 12 to 13 August 2014.
