University Librarian Prof. Salvacion M. Arlante received the Hall of Fame Award from the PLAI (Philippine Librarians’ Association, Inc.). In a ceremonies held at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City, Ms. Arlante was recognized “for her invaluable contributions in the field of librarianship; for her services in various capacities in different library associations; for sharing her expertise as a resource speaker in various seminars and conferences here and abroad, and above all, for being a epitome for the library and information science profession.” PLAI is the accredited professional organization of library and information professionals in the country. The Hall of Fame Award is considered to be the most prestigious and the ultimate recognition of a librarian’s significant contributions to the field of library and information.

Prof. Arlante with the other Silver Prize awardees from Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia

Prof Arlante was previously honored in the XIV CONSAL (Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians) which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on April 21-24, 2009. The Silver Prize Medal is awarded to Prof. Arlante for her “superior achievement in the profession.” This award is given to librarians who have made significant contributions to the library profession and helped in improving relations among libraries of CONSAL member countries.
